ATR, Scripps Hospital, and an Evening of Giving

scrippsEstablished in 1924 by Ellen Browning Scripps, Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla (www.scripps.org) has been serving the community as a private, not-for-profit organization for over 80 years. Scripps is transforming medicine, providing access to the most advanced cancer treatment and cardiovascular care in a patient-oriented environment. Scripps La Jolla is continuously ranked as one of the leading hospitals in the nation. Thanks to donations from their generous supporters, grateful patients and community partners, Scripps is able to continue to provide excellent health care to all San Diegans.

On Thursday, May 31, 2012, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla hosted its 21st Annual Spinoff: Auction for Life at the Hyatt Regency in San Diego, CA in support of lifesaving cancer treatments and research. I had the pleasure and privilege of attending this exquisite event to represent ATR at Scripps along with my colleague Fran Garfinkel, a fellow Account Executive. I am very happy to say that ATR is a company that strongly supports community events & will always go the extra mile for our clients. I appreciated ATR supporting our attendance.

The evening began with an elegant cocktail reception and silent auction— Items featured were luxurious vacations from private islands to the dazzling streets of Paris, beautiful designer jewelry and clothing, spa treatments, golf trips, food, and wine. We were sure to put in our bids to support the cause and actually won! Fran: a decadent dinner at Japengo’s and me: a stay at the Hilton Garden Inn located in San Diego. One supporter actually won a $4,000 bid to receive his car from Hyatt valet & be the first person out for the evening!

Following the reception was a fabulous sit-down dinner with entertainment. A surviving cancer patient also shared her touching story and her heartfelt gratitude toward the Scripps team in helping her beat cancer. In all, the night was an incredible victory for Scripps cancer services, bringing in over $1 million from the generosity of strong supporters.
